To Our Dear Neighbors and Beloved Community,
As we look back on our journey, we are filled with immense gratitude as we celebrate 161 years of service, worship and fellowship.
For over a century and a half, our church has stood not just as a building on a street corner, but as a pillar of strength, hope, and sanctuary for the community.
Our longevity is a testament to faith in God and the resilience and dedication of our congregation.
Through challenging times, economic shifts, and societal challenges, Second Missionary Baptist Church has remained steadfast. We have weathered the storms of history by anchoring ourselves in God’s word and leaning on one another. Our walls hold the prayers, tears, triumphs, and praises of generations who came before us, and that foundational strength continues to carry us forward today.
At the heart of our 161st year, our mission is a deep, unwavering commitment to the spiritual development of each member and the community as a whole. We believe that a strong community
begins with a strong spiritual foundation.
Through our weekly worship, comprehensive Bible studies, youth programming, and vibrant ministries, we strive to, as our mission statement says, “Equip with the word of God to empower, love, save the lost with efforts to reach the world.”
As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, we do not just look to the past with nostalgia; we look to the future with expectation.
Second Missionary Baptist Church will continue to be a beacon of light, a place of healing, and a partner in the progress of our neighborhood. Whether you have been a part of our story for decades or you are looking for a spiritual home where you can grow and belong, our doors and our hearts are always open to you. Thank you for allowing us to serve, grow, and walk alongside you for 161 incredible years.
In Solidarity,
Rev. Darius L. Williams Sr, MTS.
